Yeast Free Diets

Reduce the chances of a yeast infection by using yeast free diets

Candida yeast thrives with any of three conditions; warmth, dampness and sugar presence. The body has a delicate balance of candida yeast. Too much and infections occur. Too little and the body won’t be protected for certain other diseases

Diet is one of the methods of reducing yeast infection.  If you were to eliminate yeast from your diet, you cut off the source of sugar so the yeast doesn’t have fuel to prosper.

If you have recurring yeast infections, then a yeast free diet will help eliminate it.  By eliminating yeast from your diet, you starve the yeast overgrowth and eventually the yeast balance will return.  This diet will not only help you alleviate the symptoms, but it can actually eliminate the cause of the infection.

Among available medications, generally over-the-counter products don’t work as advertised.  Their problem is that they treat the symptoms but not the root cause.  Without eliminating the root of the infection, it will keep returning.  Be careful in your choice of medications, as some of them come with unwanted side effects.

Fresh vegetables are tops on the list of foods in a yeast free diet.  Leafy green vegetables are especially helpful.  Avoid starchy vegetables like potatoes, yams or sweet potatoes.  Yeast likes starch.  Vegetables like lettuce, spinach, cabbage are basic to any yeast free diet.

Whole grains are another essential part of the yeast free diet.  Amaranth, quinoa and buckwheat are excellent choices in this class.  Grains to be avoided include white rice, white bread or white flour.  The key to whole grains are the bran in the husk of the grain.

With all the vegetables and grains comes our biggest source of protein; meat.  The buzzword with meat is lean.  Meats like chicken and turkey along with fish are excellent elements in a yeast free diet.

One group of foods that is definitely not a part of a yeast free diet is fruit.  Fruit contain a lot of sugar.  Yeast uses sugar as fuel.  The more sugar, the more yeast cells are produced..

Red meat and dairy products are also on the naughty list.  Try and go natural; avoid overly processed foods.  Another no-no in a yeast free diet is alcohol.

To make the change in your diet, try thinking about the foods you can eat as opposed to the foods you are to avoid.  This generally will keep you on the diet longer.  Another fact in a yeast free diet is the absence of portion information.  Within reason larger portions of these foods can be used, so if you find something you like, dig in.
