What is a Systemic Yeast Infection?

The development of systemic yeast infection
|
Systemic yeast infection goes under a couple of other names. Systemic candidiasis or opportunistic infections are
other names that are common. Candidiasis leads to yeast infections. It has various stages. Occasional infections
such as vaginal or oral thrush are the first stage. The other two stages are recurring candidiasis or chronic
candidiasis and the final stage is systemic yeast infection.
Easily the most serious of the candidiasis, systemic yeast infection can be very deadly. It occurs because the
candida yeast has gotten deep into the body. Candida is a fungus that’s normal state is as yeast. We all have it
and it has its purpose in the human body. The problem comes about as the yeast breaks away and completes its
transformation by becoming a very harsh fungus.
As candida loves humidity, it principle residences are the mouth, intestines and vagina. That’s where they live
when they are in their yeast state. Systemic yeast infection occurs when the transformed yeast or fungus attacks
parts of the body. Everything from the eyes to blood to lungs can be damaged by the rampant candida.
When the body can’t handle the candida production as is the case in immuno-deficient patients then any yeast
infection can become a systemic yeast infection. Immuno-deficient patients include HIV sufferers or diabetics.
These patients have to be extremely careful in regards to yeast infections.
Another cause of systemic yeast infection could be the elimination of the good bacteria that keeps candida under
control. This can happen with the use of antibiotics. Mild yeast infections if ignored can also manifest itself as
a systemic yeast infection.
The most common forms of yeast infections occur only in one place at a time. Oral thrush and vaginal yeast
infection are two examples. That isn’t the case with systemic yeast infections. It affects the entire body.
Systemic yeast infections can be the source to lots of problems. From diarrhea to constipation, lethargy, fatigue,
they can all be traced to systemic yeast infections. There really isn’t any part of the body that is sacred. It
will affect the heart, the lungs, brain and muscles. It can cause migraines and spells of dizziness.
