Prevention of Vaginal Yeast Infection

Prevention of vaginal yeast infection is more preferable than curing it. |
One of the most effective things to do for the prevention of vaginal yeast infection is also one of the easiest and
certainly cheaper than frequenting pharmacies. Including yogurt in your daily diet will reduce the chances of
having any yeast infections. Plain yogurt is much better than flavoured or colored yogurt but any yogurt is better
than none. Some of the cultures contained in yogurt counteract the yeast overgrowth. The yeast overgrowth is a
function of candida albicans going wild.
Yogurt should be part of every diet. Both genders will be better off as far as yeast infections are concerned. It
is especially important that females consume yogurt because of the prevalence of vaginal yeast infection; the most
common form of yeast infection. All females regardless of age should include yogurt in their diet.
It is advisable for a mother to sit down with their daughters to discuss yeast infections. The more the girls know,
the better they will be at prevention, especially through puberty and beyond when hormonal activity is raging. The
most telling demographic is that women aged 14 - 45 or child bearing ages have a 70% chance of contracting a yeast
infection.
One of the most prevalent ways of contracting yeast infection is with the use of antibiotics. Antibiotics purpose
is to destroy the bacteria causing the illness. The problem is that the antibiotics can’t distinguish good bacteria
from bad so it destroys both. When it destroys the good bacteria, it opens the door to rampant yeast growth in the
body which ends up in various forms of yeast infections. When your doctor prescribes antibiotics ask about an
anti-yeast prescription.
Warm weather, tight clothes, wet swimsuits are also harbingers of vaginal yeast infections. After swimming make
sure you dry your crotch area thoroughly and put on dry clothes as soon as possible.
Tight clothes are all the rage now as far as women are concerned, thongs, tight jeans, leather pants all keep any
generated dampness trapped in the vagina. Candida albicans crave dampness and warmth. The vagina is the perfect
home for yeast.
Two trends that have been documented are that the summer has a higher incidence of yeast infections. Also the
incidence goes up in relationship to the heat and humidity that is produced, countries like India, Pakistan,
Philippines and Caribbean countries all have higher per capita rate of yeast infections.
Prevention of vaginal yeast infection is much easier than curing it after it starts. If you prevent it from
starting you don’t have to go through the itching, burning and irritation.
