Male Yeast Infection Symptoms

Male yeast infection symptoms and causes. |
It is a commonly known fact that men generally keep their sexual health to themselves. They stay away from their
doctors in droves when it comes to sex. One of the most common ailments that men won’t check out with their health
professional are yeast infections. You should always consult with your doctor if you have any concerns about
your sexual health.
Oh yes, males are subject to yeast infections just like women and for most of the same reasons women contract
it.
Candida albicans, the most common strain of yeast in a yeast infection, has no preference as to gender. It
essentially needs the same conditions in both men and women. Usually Candida is kept in check by good bacteria that
balances out the existence. However if the balance is lost, then yeast infections occur.
In both genders the same triggers need to be present. Yeast needs a damp warm place to reproduce. Such conditions
are present in the mouth, bowels, vaginas and urethra in a penis. Obviously vaginal concerns only women but vaginas
can play a part in male yeast infections.
Many men have yeast build ups on their penises. Because the penis is outside the body, it has a much cooler
temperature than inside the body. This lack of heat dissipates the yeast growth. They just stay on the surface
waiting for it to warm up.
Yeast infection and sex are good partners. During intercourse, the penis reaches the
partners bodily temperature which enables the yeast to multiply. Once started, they can takeover and cause yeast
infection.
Unprotected sex can also transfer yeast infections. One of the most common ways that the infection is transferred
is through the urethra of the penis. Once the infection is inside the body, then it has much better conditions to
thrive.
If you are suffering from ‘jock itch’ or the glans or head of your penis is swollen and red, then you
could have a yeast infection.
Other symptoms include burning urination and painful erections. Burning urination is a sign that your urethra has
an infection while painful erections are the result of dry flaky skin on the penis. When the penis gets hard, the
skin stretches to accommodate the bigger size. The soars or dry areas crack and may actually bleed.
